C. Listening comprehension – Video bonus + transcription

Ellen: I understand you had quite a reaction when you found out that she was your partner.
Sasha: Well, I mean yeah! I mean, being at home and watching her on my screen, at the Olympics, and then, literally we had this fake interview that was really odd and I was just sitting down and all I hear is just like: “Hi” and I turned around and I was like: “What the f…?”. Simone Biles just walked into my living room. I mean, she’s a true inspiration, I've watched her pretty much her whole career and now that I get to dance with her it’s like out of this world.
Ellen: Yeah! She’s amazing, isn’t she?
Sasha: She is!
Ellen: And the first dance was like, what?
Sasha: It was a tango that we did and it was scary because I believe that’s like the first time she’s ever danced with a boy. So, I was like taking the mints, making sure my hair is ready, like okay, this is it, this is Simone Biles right now.
Ellen: But you must have been nervous too because that was your first time dancing with a boy, so…
Simone: I was very nervous, and it’s very personal, all up in your space And he would get super close everytime he… Yeah! He would do that exact same thing, I’d be like a turtle. And he was like, you can’t do that! Yeah like… (shrugging shoulders)
Ellen: I mean your whole life… You’ve just been working, your whole life you’ve been an athlete and that’s all you’ve done… You haven’t had a boyfriend, you haven’t had the time of socialization when most young girls go to school and everything and so to dance with your… At twenty years old, you know, it’s scary for you and you’re doing a great job.
Simone: Thank you.
Ellen: So, you’re gonna do the cha-cha right?
Sasha: We are gonna do the cha-cha.
Simone: Yeah.
Ellen: All right, let’s do it!
